CURRENCY · 0.5 RUNES OF ALDUR

PoE 2 Verisium, explained

Verisium is 0.5's new crafting metal, and going by what people are searching, the league's biggest "wait, what is this?" currency. Here's the plain version: what it is, how to farm it (and what a "Verisium Pile" is), and exactly what to spend it on: Runic Ward and gear upgrades.

01 What Verisium actually is

Verisium Metal is the new crafting currency of Runes of Aldur. It drops from the empowered monsters you fight at Ezomyte Remnants (the league mechanic; see the Remnants guide), and you spend it on Runeforging to upgrade your own gear. It is not a general trade currency like Exalted: its value is what you can forge with it.

Standard Verisium
The common grade. Stacks to 1,000. Used for Runic Ward and upgrading low-level base types.
Exceptional Verisium
The premium grade. Stacks to 50. The fuel for the higher-end upgrades, including unique weapons and armour.

02 How to get & farm it

It drops from the empowered monster waves at Ezomyte Remnants, so the farm scales with how big a Remnant you run.

  • Run Remnants as you map. Every Remnant you complete drops Verisium from the waves it summons.
  • More slots = more Verisium. Each rune adds a wave of empowered monsters, so higher-slot Remnants pay out more, and slot counts climb with map tier. Red maps (T15–16) are the farm.
  • Don't greed the slots. A death during the waves fails the craft and you get nothing. Take what your build can clear. (Our Remnant Advisor tells you whether a given slot count is worth it.)
What's a "Verisium Pile"? It's a bulk stack of Verisium handed to you as a Remnant reward: instead of the smaller amounts that trickle from kills, some reward configurations grant a whole Pile at once. That's the fast way to bank it.

03 What to spend it on: Runeforging

Unlock it early: find and save Farrow in Clearfell (Act 1) and finish his quest. That puts the Verisium Anvil in town. Unique upgrades unlock later, in Act 3. Three things to forge:

Runic Ward
A third health layer that catches you at 1 Life and regenerates ~5%/sec. Free on ilvl ≤55 armour; at ilvl 56+ the piece trades some armour/ES/evasion for it.
Base-type upgrades
Upgrade weapon and armour base types below level 55 to a higher base: keep a good early item relevant deeper into the game.
Unique upgrades (Act 3+)
Exceptional Verisium upgrades sub-55 unique weapons/armour to endgame bases. That broken-mechanic Act-1 unique can follow you into red maps.

04 Hoard it or sell it?

Spend it, mostly. Verisium is a use-currency: bank it as you farm and forge it into your own gear: Runic Ward on your chest is one of the cheapest power spikes in 0.5. It isn't freely tradable like Exalted, but demand is constant (every crafter needs it), so what you don't use holds value into the D3–5 crafting rush.

05 Quick FAQ

Why can't I trade my Verisium?

It's designed as a spend currency, not a market one: you forge it into your own gear. Its "price" is the power it buys: Runic Ward and base/unique upgrades.

Standard vs Exceptional Verisium: what's the difference?

Standard (stacks to 1,000) covers Runic Ward and low-level base upgrades; Exceptional (stacks to 50) is the rarer grade used for the higher-end work, including unique upgrades.

Is Runic Ward worth forging on a league-starter?

Yes. On ilvl ≤55 armour it's free (no stat tradeoff), so there's no reason to skip it while leveling. It's a regenerating buffer that catches you at 1 Life. Re-evaluate the tradeoff once you're on ilvl 56+ endgame pieces.
